Cape Dutch architecture - Cape Town's lost truth

This is a story of South Africa. Layered. Complex. Cemented in our history. Cape Dutch architecture takes us back to South Africa’s troubled past but it was also the birth of our country’s first real icon: the gable. And the story that should not be forgotten is the hands who put it together, the people who made this icon South African. The recent fires in Cape Town where irreplaceable historic pieces at the Jagger Reading Room at UCT got destroyed, just pulled us yet again towards the importance of preserving history — the good and the bad, as it all forms part of South Africa’s story.
